Little Red Riding Hood actually started out as a European fairy tale. Her name actually started out as Little Red Cap and although the tale was about a little girl and a wolf, history and many adaptions have changed it over the years. The story was pretty much written to warn people of the dangers of leaving the village and wandering into the forest.
